Humility

The Lie:

I have to be negative towards myself in order to stay humble.

Why It's A Lie:

That's not how Heavenly Father works. Yes, He wants us to be humble, but humility does not come through degrading ourselves. Instead, humility is recognizing our infinite worth, and that it comes because of God.

It's really easy, though. Sometimes it's things like, "No, you really don't look that nice. No, you might look pretty to you, but other people don't think so. You're being too loud. Stop acting like a know-it-all." The list could go on and on. But that's how Satan warps it. Wanting, trying, reminding yourself to be humble--that's good. That's amazing. And Satan doesn't want that, so he takes those reminders and says, "You have to lower yourself because you're too high. You're cocky." But humility isn't degrading yourself. It's recognizing your worth, recognizing that it comes from God and thanking Him for it. When we praise Him, thank Him, and do things for others because He is watching, then we are humble.

Weakness

The Lie:

I'm not doing a good job, not being a good person, not holding the value close to my heart, etc., if I can easily treat friends with love and listen to them, but am impatient with my siblings/family.

Why It's A Lie:

It's true that it is a weakness and a fault, but that means nothing about your worth or how good you are. Satan takes a portion of truth and warps it into something degrading. The truth is you have a weakness; the lie is you're not good enough because of it. Because the lie is founded on truth, it's easy to believe, and Satan wants us to believe it. But everyone has weaknesses; yours are no greater or smaller than others, and that's what he wants you to forget. When we recognize his lie and turn to Christ and the Atonement, we experience a change of heart. Instead of feeling defeated and a failure, our hearts are actually filled with joy and conviction as we begin to view our weakness as an opportunity to grow immensely in spirit and in our connection with God. Like it says in Ether 12:27, our weaknesses are given to us so we may be humble and turn to Christ and His grace, because through Him we are perfected, and our weaknesses will become strengths.

He Cannot Wait

Sometimes, in our grasp to understand Christ's glory and power, we forget that He died for each. and. every. one. of. us.
We forget that He knows us by name.
We feel puny, insignificant, and unworthy of any love or grace.
But those are Satan's lies again.
When Christ hears your name, His eyes fill with light and love.
When you accept His love, His gift, His grace, when you do things in His name, He can barely contain Himself from running to you and wrapping you in a hug.
And He cannot wait for the day when you finally see Him again, face to face.
He cannot wait for you to run to His arms with tears of joy and love in both your eyes, and your smiles bursting with light, while He tells you He loves you.
He cannot wait.

Friends

The Lie:

It's okay to have friends, but to need them is bad. You should never need friends.

Why It's A Lie:

Heavenly Father wants us to turn to Him when we are joyous, depressed, and in between. But He also sent us here to earth where He is not with us, even though His Spirit is within us. He gave us parents, family, and friends so that when troubles and trials come, we can go to others for support, love, and consolation. The only problem comes when we stop relying on God. But when we are faithful in our communication with Him, there is no need for guilt if we also turn to friends. Sometimes telling a friend actually ends up being the answer to pleading prayers to the Father.
